Seasonal fruits and vegetables: summer edition

First things first, why eat seasonally?

By focusing on seasonal produce, we lower the carbon footprint of our consumption, since the food did not have to travel too far to us.

We also support local farmers, families and producers, instead of big chains, and help them stay afloat.

Finally, it is cheaper to eat seasonally, since the choice of places to buy from is wider, the competition is higher and the abundance of these products is richer.

What is “in” for the summertime? Some of these might be more or less obvious (anyone living in Germany for long enough knows that pumpkin, asparagus, strawberry and prunes mean seasons change and shop decorations will soon, too). Yet perhaps, you might want to try something new or pay more attention to other products and diversify your diet?

So here it is: A full comprehensive list of seasonal fruits and vegetables in the summer, European edition!
